Methodology
In order to reach the objectives of this project, a bottom-up approach will be followed. In this approach, three measurement levels are considered:
- growth chamber:
two growth chambers are available, as to perform measurements at leaf, branch and tree sapling level;
- canopy level:
measurements will also be performed at different levels of a 35 m high tower in the experimental forest Aelmoeseneie. As such, BVOC emissions can be studied at different heights in the canopy of a deciduous forest;
- stand level:
the measuring tower in the Vielsalm experimental forest will enable the simultaneous measurements of CO2, H2O and BVOCs at stand level.
